Portable Fire Extinguishers

EAD Series | EAC Series | Other Products | Specifications

Portable fire extinguishers and hose reels are what most people think of in relation to responding to a fire. There's good reason too! These are the most visible and commonly available should you ever need to use them.

It is vital to purchase the correct type of extinguisher to match your environment and to comply with any requirements of your industry standards and building codes.

An appropriate type of fire extinguisher needs to be used for different classifications of fire.

A 'Class A' fire is when the fuel is paper, timber, cardboard or the like. Water type extinguishers will easily put these out.

Fires involving flammable and combustible liquids and gases such as petrol, natural gases and cooking oils are classified as 'B', 'C' or 'F'. To extinguish these, foam, powder or wet chemical type extinguishers need to be used. Water extinguishers in this case will only spread the fire and cause more damage.

'Class E' fires involve electricity. Water, foam or wet chemical type fire extinguishers should never be used for these. The fluid can conduct electricity and cause the user harm or death. Powder, Carbon Dioxide and Vaporising Liquid type extinguishers must only be used.
