All building owners must fulfil their regulatory responsibilities to ensure the building's essential safety features and measures are maintained.
Essential Safety Measures include installation of fire safety equipment and systems appropriate to each building and their regular servicing to ensure the safety of all occupants.
All essential Safety measures in multi story commercial/residential, buildings, motels, offices, shops, factories/warehouse, hospitals, theatres, etc, must be maintained to the same level of operations as at the time of installation/commissioning.
Frequency of inspections and testing systems, as well as maintaining records of inspections and test results are also set by the above standards and codes.
Owners must ensure they have a program of maintenance which includes inspections, testing and prevention methods in place to meet the essential safety measures legislative requirements (Penalties will apply for non- compliance)
